Being a foreign citizen in RF and intending to work in this country you need a work permit in Russia and visa. Foreigners can receive Russian visa only in the own country. As for the work permit Russia it is a document, which proves the right of a foreign citizen to temporarily perform working activities within the territory of the RF. It is issued individually for each foreign nation and is valued no more than 1 year.
For foreign citizens work permit in Russia is obtained by an employer at the RF immigration officials. Please, note that if you have a standard business visa you can't be permanently employed. If you are going to be officially employed with a company in Russia, this company needs to issue the invitation for you, and to obtain a work permit from immigration officials.
To obtain work permit Russia an employee should undergo a medical examination and have special certificates that confirm professional qualifications. A work permit is issued in the form of a two-sided plastic card. Side A contains personal data such as name, date of birth, nationality, ID, position, photo and validity period of a work permit. Side B specifies the employer and his tax identification number, work permit number, date of issue, etc.
Today a foreign citizen can obtain a work permit according to two procedures: a standard procedure for skilled specialists and according to the simplified procedure for highly skilled specialists.
